How Cricket Betting Odds Work

Understand decimal odds, probability, and how to calculate your potential winnings

If you are new to cricket betting, understanding odds is the first skill you need. Odds tell you two things: how likely an outcome is and how much you will win if your bet is correct.

What Are Decimal Odds?

Most betting sites in Bangladesh display odds in decimal format. The number represents your total return for every BDT 1 wagered, including your original stake.

Formula: Potential Payout = Stake x Odds

Example: BDT 1,000 x 2.50 = BDT 2,500 (BDT 1,500 profit)

Example: BDT 1,000 x 1.40 = BDT 1,400 (BDT 400 profit)

Odds and Probability

You can convert odds to implied probability to understand how likely the bookmaker thinks an outcome is:

Formula: Implied Probability = (1 / Odds) x 100

Odds 1.50 = 66.7% probability (strong favourite)

Odds 2.00 = 50% probability (coin flip)

Odds 3.00 = 33.3% probability (underdog)

Odds 5.00 = 20% probability (big underdog)

Finding Value

A value bet exists when you believe the true probability is higher than what the odds suggest. If you think a team has a 50% chance of winning but the odds are 2.50 (implying only 40%), that is a value bet. Over time, consistently finding value bets is how profitable bettors win.
